Meet the Candidate
Former Calaveras County Supervisor, District 5 (2016–2018)

"I kept my promises last time. There's more to do — and I'm ready to get back to work for District 5."
— Clyde Clapp
His Story
Clyde Clapp has lived and worked in Calaveras County for 40 years. A successful general contractor with deep roots in District 5, he is not a career politician — he is a neighbor who steps up when the community needs real leadership.
In 2016, Clyde formed a citizen committee and led a successful recall to block a proposed asphalt plant that would have devalued 5,000 homes and polluted our community. The current Supervisor sat on the Planning Commission and supported the project.
That moment defined Clyde's integrity: he has always put District 5 families and homeowners first — never special interests or insiders. He went door-to-door, organized the community, and was elected to serve District 5 as a direct result of that grassroots effort.
He answered every constituent call and email personally, delivered measurable results, and proved that local government can work for the people who live here. Now, with the county facing a structural deficit and crumbling roads, Clyde is ready to get back to work.
Clyde lives here with you. He feels the same frustrations you do. If we work together as a team, we can finally get the job done.
